Adidas Ozweego – Reinterpretation From The 90s

Many brands search their archive for old silhouettes, which then receive a new update. This is often the first encounter with a shoe, especially for younger sneakerheads who might be thrilled by an entire generation 20 or 30 years ago. The adidas designers are fortunate enough to choose from an almost infinite treasure of genuine classics and sometimes forgotten models. Recently, the adidas Ozweego was first “retrieved” as a limited consortium version.

On June 22, another Ozweego Colorway follows, highlighting the legacy of the 1990s. In addition to a lot of white neoprene and mesh, which did not lack a good silhouette at this time, especially the neon yellow elements are a very clear indication of the origin of the new Ozweego. As a distinguishing feature of the model is in particular the transparent, also neon yellow tube around the heel. Originally, the transparent loop was found on Ozweego 3, which adidas also introduced in the 1990s. Recently, this feature was found on the optically similar Lxcon. The three-strip branding in neon yellow and adidas blue makes the new Ozweego at first glance a member of the Trefoil family.

Another icon of the Ozweego is its coarse-grained midsole in a wave shape, which now stands out in a slightly dirty vintage white from the otherwise glittering shoe upper. The dynamic shape of the retro-runner should inspire many old and new adidas fans. We’re curious to see which adidas sneaker is making its comeback next.
